Julius Parker

About Julius Parker

Julius Parker, a lifelong Southerner, hails from Charleston, South Carolina where his family’s construction business fostered a tight-knit, diverse community. Raised amidst the rich flavors and Gullah dialects of the South, Julius’ unique upbringing during the transformative 1970s instilled in him a profound appreciation for all individuals.

Beneath the Draper Moon, a novel inspired by his quest to uncover the truth of the African American journey to freedom, stands as a testament to his deep-rooted love for history and humanity. Julius makes his home with his wife in McClellanville, SC, a sleepy shrimping village just north of Charleston. He has two daughters who attend Clemson University, and a son who is an attorney in New York. Julius holds an undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston, and a Master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
